Biomentals
What heals the body heals the mind.
About
Hello! My name is Cynthia Pereira, CFNC, FNLP, and I am the founder of Biomentals. I sought out to help share over a decade of discovery and recovery of my autistic son with others like myself who are looking for a better way to treat mental illnesses and disorders. Biomentals was born out of a need to help shift the paradigm of treatment for mental illness from the inside out.
I am an ISSA certified Nutritionist and Functional Medicine Practitioner who knows mental wellness is achievable without drugs; I've seen it firsthand. Working in technology for almost two decades and also with highly skilled functional medicine providers have given me a wealth of real-world knowledge to offer to my clients. My mission is to help others achieve their own mental health recovery.

As a daughter of immigrants from Uruguay, I grew up with parents who - like their countrymen - were very nature oriented. They believed in the nourishment the land provided and the healing the body can do on its own by harnessing it. My father never took so much as an aspirin for pain, and instead focused on getting regular exercise and hitting the sauna daily. My mother took us to organic farms outside of town, and we went through periods of juicing, alternative diets (including the raw food diet for a year) and used homeopathic and herbal medicine. My sister is an allopathic medical doctor, and my brother-in-law is a chiropractor. I was surrounded by different healthcare options as even my best friend's father was an acupuncturist and eastern medical doctor from Vietnam. All these influences have given me a firm foundation in understanding alternative health practices compared to the mainstream.

Spending almost 20 years in technology finding innovative solutions for systems within various companies has translated to a knack for finding health solutions for my clients. I am a passionate advocate for educating people on how functional nutrition can solve the unsolvable mystery ailments for which most people end up being medicated for life.

When I'm not working with clients, I volunteer as a Bible teacher, am a momma bear to my kids, and enjoy dancing the Argentine tango.

Fun Facts:

One of the coolest experiences of my life was wrestling sharks in Mexico. Technically, I just hugged them, but it turns out they don't like to be hugged!

One of the most meaningful books I've ever read is Kate DiCamillo's "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Toulane". I was reading it as a bedtime story to my daughter, and we both cried; it was so moving.

The best advice I ever received was from my mom: “Talking, we understand one another.”
